Trojans are but some kind of virus. They will compromise computers pretending to be some useful program. Once they enter the computer, Trojans engage in various malicious activities that could range from advertising a product or service unceasingly to completely obstructing the normal activity of the system. Trojans are a kind of viruses you want to protect your computer system from. Here Zlob you will find more about how to remove Zlob.
Virtumonde, or also known as Vundo, is also a Trojan. This bad application is first a Trojan that will advertise fake antivirus products. In recent times, experts have claimed that Virtumonde is no longer a threat to users. But Virtumonde came back, and is affecting lots of computers. Your computer system will be infected via spam emails (to which it will come attached to them) or via any weakness part of your browser (like those found in plugins). Check here Remove Virtumonde to learn more about Virtumonde removal.
This threat (Virtumonde) will get transferred from one of those sources and will install itself in the user's directory. During which, it will change your System Registry. Once ready, this threat (Virtumonde) will install a Browser Helper Object (BHO) that will redirect your web browser's to hacked websites full of malware and such. This program will also do the promotion of lots of false spyware via popups (in your browser). It may also replace the desktop background with a warning message that says that the user’s computer is heavily infected with malware and that he or she should immediately go to the specified website and download the recommended anti-malware, which is in fact a fake application.
Your screensaver will be replaced by the terrible "Windows Blue Screen" once this trojan has infected your PC. The user will then get a block of text telling your computer is heavily infected with viruses, and that you should immediately download and install the previous (fake) application as written before. If the PC user falls for this scam and do download this fake application (it is but a fake anti-malware program): he or she might become scared into thinking to eventually buy the "full" version of this software. It will result that you will but loss money doing so. All of that should give you enough proofs that this threat is still compromising computer systems.
This threat (Virtumonde) is a kind of spyware. You should threat this malware as such and should protect yourself against it at all times by using ways to delete it from your PC as soon as it is detected. The best method for that is to use some good antivirus softwares that will scan and clean your PC on a regular basis. If you are vigilant, this dangerous Trojan will not affect you even though Virtumonde is still affecting computers.
